Now that I have a moment...

It's been a while since anybody said anything here. I suppose you can probably understand, given that we sorta have like, y'know BABIES!!!!!

I made people!

Yes, the boys are doing wonderfully, nobody spent any time in the NICU or anything else scary. Evan spent like 18 hours under the biliruben lights, but that's it. I mostly wanted to post about a phenomenon we've noticed: Baby Geeking.
Anybody who's had a baby knows that random people come up to you and go AWWWWWWWWWHESSOCYUUUUTE!!!! before they actually speak to you, the parent. It happens. With twins, however, it happens constantly. and to a greater extent. The grounds keeper at a hotel we're stopping at for a diaper change comes up and goes AWWWWWWWWTHEYRESOCYUUUUTE!!!!! This is a guy who watches spike tv and drinks miller high life. he's a gruff guy, a man's man - and he is a total geek over our babies. We just came back from pizza inn, and literally the entire wait staff and half the patrons were total geeks, for the duration of our visit. They geek over the fact that we had two babies, they geek over the fact that they're identical, they geek over the fact that they were born at around 6 pounds (both ways - some geek about the smallness, and some geek about how big they are, given that they were preemie twins.), they geek over everything and anything. It's hard to stuff my face like a disgusting pig with some old lady making smoochy faces at my son.

Scary realization

Our babies are over 5 pounds each at 34 weeks. Babies, on average, put on 1/2 pound a week at this stage. This means that if they were letting me go to 40 weeks, I'd be having two 8 pounders.

They are going to stop me ASAP after 36 weeks (They'll probably be about 6 pounds each at that point) because the more my uterus becomes distended and the closer I get to starting labor, the higher the risk for uterine rupture. If only my previous c section had been the low transverse internal incision... Yeah, I'd be uncomfortable, but two 8 pound babies would be very cool. But scary.

Ok, NOW I'm about to explode.

Our scanner isn't working right now, so I can't put the sonograms up, but I will post those as soon as it is.
We just got back from the doctor, and I just can't explain how filled with joy I am right now. For one - we set a date! Wait, let me do this properly... Ahem:

WE SET A DATE!!!!!!!!!

It's a secret. Actually. we set a date for an amnio, but Dr. Richardson, who is cool, said most likely they'll be ready to come out then. If they're ready to come out then...

OUR BABIES WILL BE BORN!!!!!

That's assuming they don't just up and decide to come earlier for some reason.
So yeah, I'm happy. In addition to that, while the ultrasound tech (who is also cool) was looking at the babies, I watched Baby A turn his head towards the "camera" and got a beautiful view of his little face as the "beam" swept across him. His whole face lit up and I got a perfect view of his face, and I just started crying.

Yes, I cry.

Well, so would you, sissy.

I don't know if it was seeing the face or knowing the date, but man I was just exploding today. I mean I was bawling my eyes out, then as soon as they dried up - I'd be dancing and singing and just randomly whistling.
I'm a complete goober.
I made people!
I say that a lot, but I think it really sunk in today. I was a part of creating people. Like, actual people. It occurred to me on the way home: We didn't just make people - we made lives. These little babies in Rebecca's tummy are gonna be diaper changes and trips to school and dating and marrying and having their own children and having a real impact on the world - and we are going to shape their view of the world. Kinda scary, when you think about it. The responsibility of it all is enormous. I'm ready. I've been ready for a long time. I've always wanted to be a daddy.
In other news, I put together the crib tonight, and the playpen/portable sleeper last night. The crib is pretty.
I made furniture!

Probably no more updates for now

At this point, unless something different happens, I'm going to lay off on the updates. We have an amnio coming up- Either (MAYBE) tomorrow or a week later, and, until then, we won't really know much. I'm holding these babies in like I'm Fort Knox and they seem to be doing great, so the next update from me (though I can't really speak for Twilight) won't happen until I have some real info...

I do really think I could probably take this pregnancy all the way if they'd let me, but uterine rupture would be really unpleasant.

Until then, hanging in there...

Just a plug

I'm just pimping my flickr site. I put pictures I took on there, and I'll wind up putting ones of the twins on there as well. There, I made it about the twins. Please go look at my pictures, and PLEASE comment. I crave comments, I need comments, and nobody ever comments. And comment here, too. You can find my other blog - my personal blog - by clicking my name over on the side. Please don't go there unless you are a freak, because I get kinda freaky on there. Freaky enough that I'm not going to link directly to it in here.
